Validating Package Strength and Integrity
Our package testing services begin with
discussing your specific requirements and then tailoring the process to meet or exceed
those needs. Your packaging testing might have a variety of purposes, such as:
- Authenticate suitability for end-use
- Help solve problems with current packaging
- Help identify potential cost savings in packaging
- Provide a technical means of comparison package options
- Determine or verify that requirements of a specification,
regulation, or contract are met
- Provide standard data for quality assurance
- Provide evidence for product liability, patents, or product claims
- Predict in a laboratory, the performance of a package during distribution and
use by your customers
Our package testing involves the measurement of a set of characteristics involving your packaging such as their materials, components, shipping containers, and unit loads. Our testing measures the effects and interactions of the levels of packaging, the package contents, external forces, and end-use. In short, we will simulate the environment your packages will face in route, in storage, or by the end user.
We will also document the formal test method or methods and prepare a test report that includes all pertinent data such as certification level, charts/graphs, spreadsheets, photographs, video, etc.
If needed, the testing process can involve certifying the package to standards set by:
- International Organization for Standardization, ISO
- ASTM International
- European Committee for Standardization. CEN
- TAPPI
- International Safe Transit Association
- ISTA
- NMF
- Custom shipping and handling protocols
- Corporate specifications
In addition, our package testing can extend for the full life cycle. Packages can be tested for their ability to be recycled and their ability to degrade as surface litter, in a sealed landfill or under composting conditions.
