In 1993, Anthony White founded Advanced Packaging Technology Laboratories (APTL) with a vision to deliver a customer-centric experience combined with technical expertise and state-of-the-art testing equipment. For over 25 plus years, he along with his seasoned technical and support staff has grown APTL into a well-established brand with a client list that ranges from fortune 100 and 500 companies to the U.S. Military.
Mark Hughes joined Advanced Packaging Technology Laboratories in early 2014 as Laboratory Director. With over 35 years’ experience in the package testing industry, Mark understands the key to managing a successful lab is using cutting-edge technology to get meaningful results. He takes great pride in being able to solve customers’ packaging challenges. Mark is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts and received his master’s degree from the University of Minnesota.
When not working, Mark enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, bicycle riding and running. As a native of Boston, Mark is a loyal Red Sox fan.
Luisa comes to Advanced Packaging Technologies Laboratory after several years in the medical packaging industry. It is her attention to detail and her “get-it-done” attitude that makes her perfect fit for the office administrator position.
When Luisa is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two dogs. Luisa also loves to travel and she is always looking for a new adventure.
Mackenzie attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign where she earned her degree in Material Science and Engineering with a concentration in Polymer Science. Mackenzie is an active member of the Society of Women Engineers. Mackenzie came to Advanced Labs to pursue her interest in polymers and packaging. Being new to the package testing industry, Mackenzie offers a fresh prospective to every project she is engaged in. Mackenzie is a native of Algonquin Illinois where she enjoys trying new restaurants and spending time with her family and friends.
With over 21 years in the testing industry, Leo has experience in quality, reliability, engineering and laboratory testing. He maintains knowledge of many current test methods and technologies used in modern laboratory testing. With his background, he has presented at industry, trade and customer sites as a key note speaker discussing topics including accelerated life, military and aerospace testing.
When he is not dedicated to his work, he enjoys “hanging out” with his two teenage kids and watching movies.
With over 16 years’ experience in the packaging testing industry, Matt Schnirer has seen his share of packaging project challenges. Selecting the appropriate package testing and having the ability to exceed customer expectations has made him the go-to-person when it comes to packaging project challenges.
As the father of two young children, Matt spends his time fully-submerged in their activities. He is a life-long learner of world cultures and a connoisseur of great food, aka a foodie.
As a UN/DOT Manager, Rafael Cameron has developed the ability to adapt to various testing methods with a high-level of accuracy. His understanding of the testing process has helped customers achieve a high-level of success. Rafael served in the U.S. Navy where he developed a strong work ethic and valuable leadership skills.
When Rafael isn’t working, he is traveling the country with his family, including 5 daughters, participating in bowling tournaments and seeking his 18th perfect game.
Kim Grumbos is known at APTL for her attention to detail and outgoing personality. A graduate from Kaplan University with a major in health science, Kim has a talent for keeping a strict eye on her customers projects.
Kim has a passion for animals, in addition to sharing her home with a variety of them, she volunteers at a local animal shelter. When Kim isn’t working she’s enjoys watching the “Walking Dead” and embracing her inner zombie.
Amy joined the APTL team in early 2016 as the officer manager. It was her attention to detail and eagerness to learn more about the packaging testing industry that allowed her to secure a position as an ISTA Lab Technician. “Everyday is never the same. We are constantly testing different products and I am always learning something new,” says Amy.
Amy, a Palatine Illinois native enjoys reading and traveling.
Aileen comes to APTL from Cuernavaca, Morelos Mexico where she earned her degree in industrial and systems engineering. Aileen began her career in clinical packaging. She has a keen attention detail and prides herself on being able to offer creative testing solutions to her clients.
In her free time, Aileen enjoys spending time with her husband and traveling the world. She also runs a face painting business on the weekends.
Monica has been instrumental in helping clients reduce packaging concerns by utilizing ISTA/ASTM testing to uncover the best packaging solution for their needs. Prior to coming to APTL, Monica worked in the healthcare industry. It was her compassion and ability to communicate with patients that has contributed to her success as an ISTA Project Leader.
Monica is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management. When not studying or writing papers, Monica enjoys spending time with her standard poodle, Lily and outdoor activities.
Jennifer has been a member of the materials packaging team for 5 years. She has a solid history of dissecting and cross referencing technical documents. It’s Jennifer’s ability to expertly translate test specifications and identify ASTM, Tappi and customer specifications needed for testing packaging materials that makes her a great asset to our customers and the materials packaging team.
When not working Jennifer enjoys crafting and volunteering at local need-based organizations.
